There's something so absolutely delightful about a spicy, fruity drink. It makes my mouth water just to think about it! Now, this really could be as spicy as you would like to make it. One doesn't need to get too crazy - if you just want a little zing, remove all the seeds from the jalapeño and / or do 1/4 jalapeño, if it please ya...or add more for a stronger kick.
Less than 5 ingredients, plus a few garnishes. Now go invite some friends to make it for and you're all set for a Fourth of July that'll pop in more ways than one! Your ingredient list and instructions are below.
Ingredients
2 heaping cups watermelon cubes (freeze one cup of it)
1/2 jalapeño (not seeded)
1/4 cup lime simple syrup
Sparkling water
Garnishes
1 lime wedge (for its juice)
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
1 tbsp kosher salt
Thin watermelon wedges
Instructions
In a blender, combine your frozen and fresh watermelon and half of the jalapeno. Blend super well...until you don't see any jalapeño pieces left.
Strain mixture and discard pulp. Add lime simple syrup and stir to combine.
To make the salted rims, combine salt and cayenne powder in a wide flat bowl. Use a wedge of lime and run it around the edge of the glass, then dip the wet edges into the spicy salt.
Pour glasses 2/3 full with mixture then top off with sparkling water. Garnish with a jalapeño coin and watermelon wedge and serve!
Simple Syrup Instructions
Add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring well. Once the sugar is completely dissolved, pour into a glass jar and let cool.
When cool to the touch, add 3-5 drops Lime Vitality Essential Oil, to taste.
